Toledo, St Louis & Western 4-4-0 "American" Type Locomotives

Class D-9 (Locobase 6712)

Data from T, St L & W's 1911 and 1924 locomotive diagram books supplied in May 2005 by Allen Stanley from his extensive collection.

Early Clover Leaf Eight-wheelers that had lasted in service long enough to be taken into the Nickel Plate and renumbered. Locobase believes that other members of the class had been disposed of before the merger and that these two did not outlast the jointure for long.

Another note: the 1924 document records the original purchase price as $8,500 in 1887 dollars. Boiler horsepower is given as 709 HP, while the cylinders were credited with 866 HP.
