Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 38, p. 235. Works numbers were 36817-36820 in August 1911.

ARMC was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Pittsburg, Shawmut & Northern. Its previous business with Baldwin had concerned the purchase of 4-wheel, 100-hp electric switchers in 1909-1910 (works numbers 34124-34130 in December 1909 and 34171-34173 in January 1910). Apparently needing some road engines, the Brookville, Pa company duplicated parent PS & N's H-4 Consolidation design (Locobase 12779). Perhaps the only difference was the use of a cylindrical tender of the same capacity, but weighing 10,000 lb less.

Three of the four were scrapped bearing the ARMC herald: 229 in November 1938, 228 in December 1940, and 227 in November 1942. ARMC sold the 226 to the PS & N in 1944 as their 76.
