Class 9 (Locobase 11531)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines, 1888, as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 15, p. 2. Works number was 9795 in February 1889. Railroad information from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaslo_and_Slocan_Railway . The DM & KC, as noted in Locobase 11530, converted to standard gauge operation in Novemnber 1896. At that point, this Consolidation was sold in 1896 to the Kaslo & Slocan Railway, which served a mining region of the Kootenay Lake in Canada's British Columbia. The K & S enjoyed some boom years in the mid-1890s, says Wikipedia, but eventually succumbed to high operating costs incurred by frequent mud and snow slides and service was cut off in 1908 by yet more flooding and slides.
