Marquette & South Eastern 2-8-0 "Consolidation" Locomotives of the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 36 (Locobase 13131)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 30, p. 225. Works numbers were 30828, 30841 in May 1907.

The M & SE ran from Big Bay in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan along the shore of Lake Superior through Marquette, then inland to Lawson, where it met the Munising. In 1912, the M & SE merged with the Munising Railroad and was then named the Munising, Marquette & South Eastern. And in 1923, the larger Lake Superior & Ishpeming absorbed the MM & SE.

The pair of Consolidations delivered by Baldwin in 1907 kept their numbers on the MM & SE
