Buenos Aires 4-6-0 Locomotives in Argentina

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 201-268 (Locobase 3659)

Data provided by Carlos Alberto Fernandez Priotti in Bryan Attewell ([] Steam Locomotive simulator program (April 2000). Note that this is a very small Ten-wheeler.

Fernandez adds (in [] (visited August 2002)) that this class was the major part of the initial stud of locomotives for this metre-gauge line when it was extended north to Rosario. They looked "French", according to Fernandez, although they were built by German firms Borsig, the Societe Alsacienne (SACM), and Richard Hartmann. The design had a Belpaire firebox.

These Ten-wheelers proved to possess "great versatility," says Fernandez (in translation), "[and] served in many cases to the end of steam traction on the FC General Belgrano at the end of the decade of the 1970s."
