Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class V/BR 53 82 (Locobase 21100)

Data from "Baureihe 53 82" on Albert Gieseler's Dampfmaschinen und Lokomotiven website at [], last accessed 28 October 2022; and "SSchsische V" in Wikipedia at [], last accessed 28 October 2022. Works numbers were 829-840 in 1875, 939-945 in 1876, 1000-1001 in 1878.

Wikipedia's summary of this widely used six-coupled goods design notes that production of the basic design ran from 1859 to 1887 in three series. The first series covered 24 engines, the second 31, and the third 118, to which the data for this entry most likely refer. Three different valve gear arrangements--Allan, Gooch, and Stephenson--supplied steam to V class boilers. The first series used dampfschlitten ("steam sled" according to Google Translate), dampfklotz ("steam block") in the second, and Westinghouse air brakes in the third.
