Boone & Scenic Valley Mikados
The Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad is located in central Iowa and it operates
steam powered passenger excursion trains on former C&NW tracks. In 1988, it
ordered a new 2-8-2 locomotive from the Datong Company in China. It was
delivered in 1989. The cost was $350,000.00, which included a shipping cost of
over $100,000.00. The railroad operates this locomotive three times a day on
weekend and holidays from Memorial Day through the last weekend of October.
