Andino 2-6-0 Locomotives in Argentina

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 4 (Locobase 12202)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 20, pp 66 and 143 Works numbers were 14909-14910 in June 1896.

Relatively small for their wheel arrangement, these Moguls were modestly powered and lightweight. But the railway didn't impose heavy demands on them either. Ruling grade was just over 1%, curves swept quite gently in 1,000-metre radii. The Andino specificedc that these 2-6-0s had to be able haul 1,180 tons on the level at 30 km/h (19 mph).
