Class 5 (Locobase 12195)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 20, p. 129. Works number was 14859-14860 in May 1896.

Baldwin produced pairs of locomotives with three different wheel arrangements in a single run for the Buenos Aires Western. Each has a different entry: Locobase 3729 for the 4-4-0s, Locobase 12202 for the compound 2-6-0s (this entry), and Locobase 12195 for the 0-6-2 tanks.

These broad-gauge Vauclain compound Mogul locomotives were fitted with relatively large 11 1/2" (292 mm) piston valves.
