Data provided by Carlos Alberto Fernandez Priotti in Bryan Attewell ([] Steam Locomotive simulator program (April 2000); and D Rock Carling, 4-8-0 Tender Locomotives (New York: Drake Publishers Inc, 1972), p. and serial #193 in table pp. 106-107.
Fernandez, writing in [] (visited August 2002), wrote these engines were ordered from the Nord to confront the problem of rapidly growing freight service on a relatively lightly built line.
Although limited to a 12 1/2-metric ton axle loading, these Twelve-wheelers proved to have considerable power as they worked the BA-Rosario line through Mercedes and Pergamino. The profile showed the steam and sand domes joined in a long casing over the middle driving axles and a noticeable gap between the third and fourth drivers.
Successful as these locomotives proved to be, the postwar era saw a relatively rapid introduction of diesel-electrics and the class was scrapped by the end of the 1950s.
