[], last accessed 13 April 2010; and John Charles McKay, Light Railways for the United Kingdom, India, and the Colonies (London: Crosby, Lockwood and Son, 1896), pp. 161-162.
This one-off tank engine got through tight turns on the Sarajevo-Dubrovnik line by the pantograph action of the two end driving axles (known as the Klose system). The photo on Self's site shows a long-barrelled engine with steam dome well forward and the firebox much larger in diameter than the boiler (perhaps a Belpaire type, but one can't be certain).
McKay delved in more detail about this design to sustain his argument for using light railways more widely. He claimed that the engines developed 350-400 hp.
