This sextet were delivered to the northern Austrian alpine rack railroad from 1896-1900. The first three- Kaiserstein, Klosterwappen, & Waxriegel -- bore works numbers 3400-3402. 1898's Hengst was works 3750 while the 1900 Puchberg and #6 (name uncertain) were works 4215.
After the 1938 Anschluss with the Third Reich, all were redesignated as BR 99 73. After the war and the liberation of Austria, the Austrian State retained the designation until 1953, when all were reclassed OeBB 999.
