Kaiser-Ferdinands-Nordbahn 0-6-4 Locomotives in Austria

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class IX / 191 (Locobase 4644)

Data from [link], accessed 12 August 2006.

The Wikipedia entry says that the KFNB bought these two engines on the very light rail of the Bielitz-Kalwarya Localbahn, which had an eight-ton axle loading. Unfortunately, the layout and suspension of the locomotives encouraged derailments and their maximum speeds were reduced from 50 km/h (31 mph) to 35 km/h (25 mph). By 1910, they operated in Lundenbreg for the Saitz-Goding Localbahn.

They can't have been total failures as they survived the breakup of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918 and served the CSD as their class 300 (001 & 002) until 1929.
