Originally ordered by the Snd-Norddeutsche Verbindungsbahn, this sextet of 8-coupleds was delivered to the OWNB as their class VI. They also were named CARL IV, MARIA THERESIA, JOSEF II, GOTTFRIED SOMMER, SENEFELDER, and ROTTECK. At first the class operated on the grades between Schwadowitz and Liebau, and between Reichenberg and Seidenberg. Later they served Josefstadt

Similar tothe Sudbahn's Class 35s, they were not as powerful.

Years later, when World War One ended and the Austro-Hungarian Empire fragmented, the Czechoslovakian CSD redesignated the four 271s they inherited as 411.1 and operated them until 1944.
