Austria and Moravia were the first locomotives on the KFNB. In fact, Austria led the inaugural run from Floridsdorf (northern Vienna) to Deutsch-Wagram in lower Austria. But they were too light and too low-powered from the start and were soon relegated to the Stockerauer Flngelbahn. A terrible accident on the Paris-Versailles railway in May 1842 elicited a ban on 2-axle locomotives that spelled the end for these two engines. They left service in 1846 and were scrapped in 1849 and 1852 when the railway decided not to convert them to 2-2-2s.
