kaiserlich-Koeniglichen Oesterreichischen StB 2-2-2 Locomotives in Austria

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 112 (Locobase 6295)

Data from Railway Gazette, 12 July 1907. See also "Austrian Rail Motor Engine", Railway and Locomotive Engineering, Vol 20, No 11 (November 1907), pp. 499.

The accompanying article says this locomotive was rated at 4 coaches (40-50 tons) at a maximum speed of 50 mph. It was intended for service to intermediate stops. The illustration shows that most of the wheelbase lay between the front truck and the drivers with the trailing axle immediately behind. The stack bore a Rihosek spark arrester at its top.

They were useful enough to remain in service for several decades; #1 was retired in 1937, #2 went in 1942.
