Oesterreichische Nordwestbahn 4-4-0 Locomotives in Austria

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class IIa (Locobase 7802)

Data from [link], last accessed 27 August 2006.

This unusual set of locomotives did not ever receive kkStB designations, as they had all been retired in 1883 (6 engines) and 1887 (the other 6). As they came into service, they were named as follows: AUSTRIA, BOHEMIA, PARDUBITZ, K+NIGGR-TZ, JOSEFSTADT, ELBE, K+NIGINHOF, LIEBENAU, ISER, TURNAU, TRAUTENAU, and REICHENBERG. They were the first Austrian locomotives to be fitted with external Hall cranks.
