The steam motor shown in this report is quite a bit smaller than those most often imagined when the term is used. Its overall length ran 28 ft 6 in, of which about half was devoted to motive power and operator. The rear half was supported by one axle and hosted 2nd and 3rd class passengers and some luggage. Top speed was limited to 20 mph (32 km/h) by regulation.
