Class 20 (Locobase 10324)

Data from "Locomotives of the Antwerp-Ghent Railway," The Locomotive Magazine, Vol VIII (23 May 1903), p. 353. Works numbers 690-692, 718-719.

An unusual feature of this design, according to the article, was the very large surface area devoted to the Belpaire firebox. Locobase wonders if somehow the author simply miscalculated the metric dimensions. He does underscore the "remarkable" proportions and separates the two numbers, but still ...

The tall and slender polished-brass dome had a saucer-like cover and the inversely tapered stack had a broad cap. When the A-G was taken into the Belgian State Railway system in 1899, these locomotivers were withdrawn from service.
