Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Monte Alto (Locobase 13454)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 32, p. 231. See also tramz site at [link], last accessed 22 January 2012. Works number was 32812 in August 1908.

Similar in size to other radial 4-coupled tanks often used in plantation service, this class had longer cylinder strokes.

This 33-km (20.5-mile) railway began at the Paulista Railroad's Ibitarama station and extended through Monte Alto to Vista Alegre. the CM de MA lay about 370 km (230 miles) northwest of Sao Paulo.

In 1926, gasoline-powered railcars took over the service from the likes of such steam engines as these.
