Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 2 (Locobase 11806)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 11, p.139. Works numbers were 6369, 6371-6373 in September 1882.

The class was rated at 100-ft diameter curves and would burn either wood or coal.

Connelly's Baldwin list shows that two -- 2 and 4 (works 6369 and 6371) -- went on to the EF de Cantagalo. The particular branch of this tramway had ruling grades of 2.7% over a 77-km (47.8-mile) that ran from Condeiro through Cantagalo and Itacocara to Portela. It was in service from 1876 to 1890.
