Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Sao Simao (Locobase 11997)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 17, p. 116. Works number was 12227 in September 1891.

The Ciade Murrieta bought two locomotives for a comparison of capabilities. This wood-burning Mogul had an orthodox arrangement while the Serra Azul (#2) was delivered as an 0-6-2 with shorter boiler tubes but otherwise quite similar; see Locobase 11998.
