Sao Paulo Railway 2-6-0 Locomotives in Brazil

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 28 (Locobase 10422)

Data from "Locomotives of the Sao Paulo Railway," The Locomotive Magazine, Volume IX [9] (26 December 1903), p. 366. (Thanks to Teemu Koivumaki for his 13 February 2021 email noting the works numbers and driver diameter differences.). Works numbers were 3409-3411 in 1887, 3699-3704 in 1891, 3914-3919 in 1893, and 4132-4134 in 1895.

LM reported in 1903 that the class appeared "distinctly American in design", but had plate frames rather than bar frames. The journal added that at time of publication, this was the largest single class of locomotives on the SPR.
