Class 22 (Locobase 20948)

Data from Secretaria da Agricultura, Commercio e Obras Publicas, Relatorio Aprestado ao Dr. Presidente do Estado de Minas Geraes ...Dr Francisco Sa, Vol 1, Primeira Parte, Seccao Primeira-Viacao Ferrea (Ouro Preto-Imprensa Official do Estado de Minas Geraes, 1895), pp. 48-50. See also DeGolyer, Volume 20, p. 77. (Thanks to Teemu Koivumaki for his 24 October 2021 email noting these engines, which led to this entry.) Works numbers were 14602-14604 in December 1895 and 14681-14682 in January 1896.

Locobase 20286 shows a Leopoldina Consolidation delivery by Baldwin that had the same firebox (to the 1/4") as the quintet shown here. Although the Baldwin specification for this class doesn't include heating surface area, all of the comparable dimensions match up well.

Pernambuco's railway used 50 lb/yard (25 kg/metre) rail,,
