Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 18 (Locobase 21119)

Data from Alco class 260 S90 Order S-1299 builder's card supplied in February 2023 by Teemu Koivumaki. Works numbers were 61552-61553 in March 1920.

(Note: Locobase uses Alco's version of the buyer's name. Other variants are Humberto Savoia and Humberto Saboya.)

This order from a leading Brazillian railroad construction company delivered a pair of wood-burning Consolidations. The fuel required the use of a basket-shaped spark-arresting stack and wood racks on the tender capable of holding three cords.

Schenectady supplied three Ten-wheelers at the same time; see Locobase 21120.
