Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 301 (Locobase 21130)

Data from Alco class 2-8-2 -82 Order C-694 builder's card supplied in February 2023 by Teemu Koivumaki. Works number was 63340-633342 in July 1922..

More than a year after IFCOS (a government authority tasked with relieving drought problems in Brazil's Northeast--see Locobase 21129) ordered eight Ten-wheelers, brokers Norton Griffith ordered this Mikado trio. Compared to the earlier engines, these were considerably smaller in the boiler, but larger in firebox and grate area. Their tenders held up to three cords of wood).

Teemu Koivumaki's 14 February 2023 email reported the 2-8-2s only spent a year on IFCOS before being transferred to the Rede de Viacao Cearense in 1924.
