J LePrevost 2-8-2 Locomotives in Brazil

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 237 (Locobase 15398)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University,Vol 78, pp. 262+. Works numbers were 58341-58342 in April 1925.

See Locobase 15397 for a description of this design. These and two others shown in Locobse 15396 were built as part of a large order of locomotives for the Sao Paulo Rio Grande.

Whatever the original reason for sending these two engines to LePrevost, they were delivered with consecutive numbers as part of the overall SPRG roster and would soon join that railway.
