Mossor= 4-6-0 Locomotives in Brazil

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Engenheiro Cesar de Campos (Locobase 15166)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 66, pp. 329 and Volume 79, pp. 277+. Works numbers were 52687-52688 in December 1919 and 59708-59709 in November 1926.

Ordered in November, produced in December suggests these wood-burning Ten-wheelers were taken from stock. Several other Brazilian companies operated identical engines. For the Mossor=, the 4-6-0s represented an increase in power over the two 1916 Moguls described in Locobase 13985.

The second of the class was named Ministro Mello Franco. The pair that arrived almost seven years later bore the names Edward Verneck and Humberto Baboia.
