Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Vol 72, p 113. Works numbers were 57373-57378 in October 1923.
Wood-burning Ten-wheelers that served the RSM in both passenger and freight service. The superheated steam was admitted through 8" (203 mm) piston valves. The design repeated most of the specifications of the slightly earlier Consolidations, but had shorter boilers and longer, but narrower fireboxes that lay between the frames.
See Locobase 6708 for P W Fitzpatrick's letter describing the RSM's operating conditions at the time and the need for special sanding arrangements.
