4-6-2 Steam Locomotives in Brazil

Araraquara

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 21291)

Data from Krupp im Dienst der Dampflokomotive (Essen, Germany: Krupp, 1940), p 113. Works numbers were 927-930 in September1925.

This quartet of mixed-traffic Pacifics offered a relatively small evaporative heating surface area eompared to other metre-gauge 4-6-2s found in Locobase. At the other end of the comparison spectrum, the design's grate area was one of the largest. Low-calorie coal most likely demanded such a spacious fireplace. Its tractive effort placed in the top third.
