4-8-2 Steam Locomotives in Brazil

Rio Grande do Sul

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 826 (Locobase 21297)

Data from Schwartzkopff Damplokomotiven (Berliner Machinenbau-Actien-Gesellschfaft/BMAG, 1939), p.54 Works numbers were 10784-10794 in 1938.

This set of Mountains are nearly invisible to the Internet. But a simple review of its data shows some interesting values. For example, the 1500 mm driver diameter/gauge ratio equates to 88" on the standard gauge. Yet the evaporative heating surface/grate area suggests low-calorie coal, a limit partially compensated for by the high superheat percentage.
