Although these shunters weren't particularly successful in their first assignments on the coal trains from Pernik to Sofia, they obviously had some utility as heavy switchers at the Poduyane yards. 21 years after the initial trio was delivered, the BDZ's G Dimitrov State Locomotive Factory built 3 more to the original plans. As they were supplanted by diesels, some of the class was moved to Russe in the northeast and others were mothballed as a war-emergency reserve.
