[] (viewed 18 July 2003) shows us the data for the locomotive that [] describes as "...the definitive German 2-10-0. Stripped down, this is essentially what became the class 52 Kriegslok." Even in its original state, this engine had a markedly lower axle loading than the Class 44. Trifonov's data shows a smaller superheater than that of the 50s described by the german-railways.com site. Tube diameters are inner dimensions.
Trifonov's tables show us the variety of manufacturers that contributed to the 50-locomotive batch that the BDZ began procuring in 1942. Overall, the numbers sorted out as:
Borsig, Berlin 1
Esslingen 1
Floridsdorf (the Austrian state works), Vienna 10
Henschel & Sohn, Kassel 15
AWR-Jung, Jungentau 1
Krauss Maffei, Munich 7
Krupp, Essen 5
Schichau, Elbing 2
Schwarzkopff, Berlin 5
Skodawerke, Pilsen 2
These ran for more than 30 years in the Plovdiv division pulling both passenger and freight.
