These Prairie tanks served both as helper engines for passenger and freight work and as road engines on light passenger trains. Hanomag delivered the first 20 - ten in 1910, ten more six years later. Schwarzkopff produced 25 in 1921 -- these were heavier and had larger coal bunkers and water tanks. Many operated for over 50 years.
