Canadian Pacific 0-6-4 Locomotives in Canada

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class T3 (Locobase 8734)

Data from 1947 Canadian Pacific Locomotive Diagram book supplied in May 2005 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Rail Data Exchange.(Thanks to Chris Hohl for his 15 January 2019 email noting the T3's engine wheelbase.)

Although Locobase doesn't normally include North American switchers, any locomotive with an unusual wheel arrangement merits attention. The CP built this pair to a unique design whose profile revealed three evenly spaced domes of equal size, cylinders topped by relatively large piston valves, side tanks that were cut away over the valve gear (to permit easy maintenance, one supposes), a large cab and big bunker.

CP used these engines as terminal switchers in Montreal and Toronto. One was retired in 1930, the other lasted until 1951.
