Albion Mills 2-4-2 Locomotives in Canada

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 10 (Locobase 12700)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 18, p.150,. Works number was 13186 in January 1893.

Apparently taken off the shelf to supply to a variety of railroads, this bi-directional design suited the Nova Scotia-based Acadia Coal Company's 16-mile network of lines serving the coal mines of Pictou County. The engine later was rebuilt with larger cylinders (17"/432 mm diameter) and taller drivers (50"/1,270 mm).

It remained in service through the 1940s.
