Data from [link], which credits Dale Wilson's book Algoma Eastern Railway (Nickel Plate Rails, 1977). See also Dale Wilson, "Algoma Eastern Railway", at [link], last accessed 8 February 8, 2014 and WL & MJ Caesar, "Bridging the Centuries: The Little Current Swing Bridge 1913-2013", archived at [link], last accessed 8 February 2014. Works number was 41092 in January 1907.

When this Mogul was delivered, the M&NS ran for 17.5 miles (28.2 km) from Sudbury, Ont to Gertrude Mines. By 1911 the line ran another 5.5 miles to Crean Hill. By that time, a new charter had been issued on 19 May 1911 to Lake Superior Corporation to operate the line as the Algoma Eastern.

The 50's early retirement owed to its head-on collision with 51 in the Birch Island wreck on 23 July 1924. Its engineer and fireman were severely injured and its conductor and brakeman were killed. Although it was returned to service after repairs, the engine continued to show the after-effects of the violent "meet" and was retired in 1927.
