Peking-Mukden 4-6-2 Locomotives in China

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 190 (Locobase 14642)

Data from DeGolyer, Volume 60, pp. 236. Works numbers were 52477, 52525-52526, 52560-52561 in November 1919; 55036, 55047-55050 in September 1921.

Using the same boiler and firebox as the one provided to the PMR Mikados shown in Locobase 14645, Baldwin stretched the tube bundle another foot to confer more heating surface for these Pacifics. In addition, raising the boiler pressure 20 psi partially compensated for the taller drivers and smaller amount of cylinder volume. Like the Mikes, these engines used 11" (279 mm) piston valves.
