Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 1 (Locobase 15072)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 15, p. 139. Works numbers were 54818-54819 in May 1921.

More than thirty years after the Carlos Holguin had been produced by Baldwin for the Norte (Locobase 11636), the railway returned for two more. Since they were numbered 1 and 2, it's likely that they replaced the earlier tanks. The short double-ender design had changed in the interim. Now the water was carried in a saddle tank, boiler pressure was up, but heatingsurface area and cylinder volume decreased.

The railway now had 60 lb/yard (30 kg/metre) rail, curves of 100 metres (328 feet), and 3% grades. Gene Connelly's Baldwin production list says these were delivered to the Cundimarca, which represented a portion of the FC de Norte network. The locomotives' tenders were lettered for the Ferrocarrril del Norte. Later the 1 would be sold to the Paz del Rio and be renamed for Presidente Belencit.

This little tank was later sold to M Esmacho Roldan & Nephesa.
