Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 61 (Locobase 13991)

Data from a table in 1947 Locomotive Cyclopedia, considerably supplemented by Negative 13435 of the Baldwin Locomotive Works, supplied by Bryan Norden to [link],194903,194951#msg-194951 on 15 July 2011, last accessed 26 March 2012. Works numbers were 71972-71976 in 1944, 72240

72241 in 1945, and 73355-73358 in 1946.

Note that the boiler and grate had plenty of steam left when the small cylinders, which were served by 9" (229 mm) piston valves, were exhausted. These were sizable locomotives for the 3-foot gauge.
