Girardot-Tolima-Huila Beyer-Garratt Locomotives in Colombia

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 20/210 (Locobase 20199)

Data from Lionel Wiener, "Les Locomotives Articulees Actuelles," Revue General des Chemins de Fer, Volume 49 (July 1929), pp. 7-8; and Wiener, Articulated Locomotives (1930).

Wiener's 1929 article noted these Kitson-Meyers' operating conditions, which included running from La Mesa (961 metres/3,153 feet above sea level) up 1,500 metres (4,921 ft) to Facatativa at 2,614 metres (8,576 feet). The long wheelbase required flexibility both vertically and horizontally as the engine snaked around tight curves.

The firebox's brick arch was supported by 76 mm (3") tubes.
