Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 32 (Locobase 12218)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 20, 127. Works number was 15060 in August 1896.

The 32 was built to satisfy a requirement to haul 120 tons up the railway's ruling grades and around the curves at 12 mph. The radial tank later went to Costa Rica's Northern Railway in 1905 and was renumbered 12. Later, the Norte renumbered the 12 as 43. Decades later in 1956, the 43 was reported still to be in service.
