Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 23 (Locobase 14921)

Data from DeGolyer, Vol 64, pp. 337. Works numbers were 51202 in February 1921.

This plantation six-coupled, wood-burning saddle tank had a Radley & Hunter diamond stack, a necessity for wood-burners to reduce sparks in highly flammable surroundings such as cane fields. The fuel box held 50 cu ft (1.4 cu m).

Class 71 (Locobase 20971)

Data from Roy V Wright (ed), Figure 2175, "Foreign Steam Locomotives: Industrial, Tank", Locomotive Cyclopedia of American Practice (Tenth Edition--1938 (New York: Simmons-Boardman Publishing Corporation, 1938),, p. 976. Works numbers were 65934-65936 in September 1924.

Healthy looking six-coupled plantation tank. The valve gear supplied by the Pilliod Corp was rarely seen on forest or on the coffee or sugar plantation locomotives.
