Central Rosa Maria

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Eusebia (Locobase 14364)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Vol 54. pp. 52+. Works number was 41807 in December 1914, 44282 in October 1916, and 53572 in August 1920.

The specs for this set of radial tank plantation engines suggest the very light road over which they traveled. Grades were nearly absent, the stiffest being a 0.2% slope (11 feet per mile), but the minimum curve radii was 80 feet (24.4 metres) or well over 50 degrees. The Central lay within a few km of Cuba's north coast east of Caibarien.

Carreno (#3) arrived almost two years later. Nela (#4), which was delivered in 1920, had one 2 1/4" (57 mm) tube and 56 1 3/4" (44.5 mm) tubes. Total heating surface measured 277 sq ft (25.75 sq m).
