Guiler-Gordon Engineering 2-2-0 Locomotives in Cuba

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Josefa (Locobase 13280)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 31, p. 214. Works number was 32781 in May 1905.

The power dimensions in the broad-gauge inspection engine described in Locobase 13044 couldn't hold a candle to the one in this entry. The boiler was bigger and pressed to a higher degree and the power dimensions allowed for more exertion. Granted the resulting dimensions were still tiny when compared to almost any other engine, but it's all relative.

Each side tank could take five upholstered chairs under a canopy. The cab sides were sheet steel and were equipped with roller curtains and gutters "projecting to each side to keep drainage from passengers. The boiler was to be "neatly encased with wood."

Gordon-Guiler Engineering supplied mill equipment to a variety of processing industries including tobacco and sugar.
