in February 1920. Even this plantation Mogul was substantially larger than the earlier Baldwins operating on this Central's rails, the light rail (30 lb/yard or 15 kg/metre) and tight curves (27 metres/89 feet) dictated a pretty small locomotive. This oil burner had a relatively large tender that was lettered "Cuban Cane Sugar Corporation" for the mill's North American owners. Sometime after its arrival on the Central El LugareRo, the 100 was sold to the Dos Rosas in Matanzas Province. That mill was renamed after the 1959 Revolucion and expropriation for Humberto Alvarez, at which point the 100 was renumbered 1213.Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 22, p. 94. Works number was 16641 in April 1899.
Tiny little sugar hauler that had the same dimensions as an earlier Baldwin engine that went to Cuba in 1892 (Locobase 12052).Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 39, p.197. Works number was 37054 in October 1910.
Returning to Baldwin twelve years after it had purchased a small Mogul for its skinny-gauge sugar road, the El Lugareno specified slight increases in cylinder volume (1"/25 mm larger diameter), heating surface area (24 sq ft/2.2 sq m or about 10%), and boiler pressure (up 10 psi). Weight penalty for this growth totalled 1 ton (454 kg). Central El Lugareño came under the Cuba Cane Sugar combine in 1915. The 5 later worked for the Central Caracas.
