Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 44, p. 292. Works number was 40315 in August 1913.

Following the 4 by only a month, the 5 was a wood-burning Mogul that supported the expansion of the Manati's rail network. The MSC exploited the 119 sq miles (76,000 acres) of cane land it had obtained in Oriente Province.
