Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 21, p.277 and Volume 24, p. 112. Works numbers were 16290 in November 1898 and 19677 in November 1901.
Over 5,000 locomotives had emerged from Baldwin's factory in the decade after the SGP had taken delivery of the Mogul shown in Locobase 11638. And the Cuban Revolution and Spanish-American War had both contributed their tumultous influences on the island's economy and society. But this little sugar-plantation railway had undergone much less of a change and the major differences between the two engines lay in increased size and higher boiler pressure. The refreshed design was satisfactory enough for the SGP to order a sister three years later. The 4 later operated on the Ingenio Mercadita.Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 32, p. 284. Works number was 32934 in August 1908 and 40084 in June 1913.
A decade after it took delivery of the first #4, this sugar plantation in Cuba ordered another Mogul of very similar size. It had a boiler with slightly higher pressure, fewer tubes of a larger diameter, and a bigger firebox. The 2, also the second of its number for the Santa Gertrudis, came 5 years later and weighed 3,000 lb (1,361 kg) more on the drivers.Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines, 1888, as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 15, p. 162. Works number was 10275 in September 1889.
This little Mogul was ordered by Krajewski & Pesant, a broker that sent it to Senor M Mendoza, manager of the SGP. This line was based in Banaguises and consisted of 7 km of standard gauge 60-lb/yard rail and 30 km of narrow gauge using 30-lb/yd rail. It was described by the US War Department's 1901 survey as in the vicinity of the Cardenas & Jucaro Railway. The locomotive was tiny even for the skinny gauge on which it travelled.
