2-8-0 Steam Locomotives in Cuba

Central Isabel

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 4 (Locobase 15247)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 72, pp. 7+. Works number was 57978 in September 1924.

Looking for a little more power than that supplied by the Moguls described in Locobase 14813, the CI returned to Eddystone for an oil-burning plantation Consolidation. Although it had only one more tube in its boiler than did the 2-6-0, each was 33" (838 mm) longer, which explains the higher heating surface area and the longer wheelbase.
