Ingenio Central Borjita 2-8-0 Locomotives in Cuba

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 6 (Locobase 15416)

Data from DeGolyer, Vol 79, pp. 40+. Works number was 60322 in December 1927.

Like the 1922 Campbell's Creek Consolidation described in Locobase 14938 on which this locomotive clearly is based, the designation of this Cuban locomotive as destined for plantation service is misleading. Its dimensions suggest instead that it was intended to run on one of the major railroads that took the Borjita's mill output to a port.

Although fitted with a saturated boiler, the 6 used 10" (254 mm) piston valves for steam distribution to the cylinders.
